Red Fort
A world
heritage site, the Red Fort is one of the spectacular
examples of Mughal architecture in India. It was built by
the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jehan between 1638 and 1648. Every
year on August 15, India's Independence Day, the Prime
Minister of India unfurls the national flag and address the
nation from the Fort.
Old Fort
The
Old Fort (Purana Quila), the citadel, was raised by the
Afghan Sher Shah Suri, who temporarily deposed the Emperor
Humayun.The mosque and the Sher Mandal are important
buildings in this citadel, created in 1541 AD.
Humayun's Tomb
The Mughals brought with them a love for gardens, fountains
and water. Humayun's Tomb is a classical example of Mughal
architecture in India. It was built by Emperor Humayun's
grieving widow,Haji Begum in 1565 AD.
